6 Quirky Things About Me:

1. Michael and I do not share blankets. I have now, and always have had, my own set of blankets that consist of a sheet, a comforter and a quilt. They are tattered, torn and ohhhh soooo comfy! On the rare occasions that we make our bed, these blankets get folded together as if they were one blanket. I say on the "rare occasions" that we make our bed because when I get out of it in the morning, Michael is usually ready to crawl into it for the day.

2. I love Spaghetti O's but HAVE to eat them with a plastic spoon, otherwise they taste like tin to me.

3. I love music of all types.....but oddly enough, I am also a "Fanilow"....a Barry Manilow fanatic! I am also a huge fan of Neil Diamond and would give anything to see either of them in concert!

4. I am absolutely addicted to the video game "Guitar Hero". We bought it for Jake for his 13th b-day.....and I am proud to say that I use it more than he does! For my 33rd b-day, Mike bought me the "Rock Band" set which consists of the guitar, drums and microphone for karaoke....and again...I am proud to say that I am damn good at all of them!

5. I love to be touched....by anyone....anytime. Of course I love when my husband touches me....I make him "tickle me softly" on my back, arms, etc. But I also LOVE to have my head rubbed by my cousin Heidi when she does my hair (she's my personal stylist :-) . Some people, like my sister-in-law, Chris, CRINGE when people touch her. Not me! I thrive on it!

Oh my Lord is this hard.....lol. I thought I'd be able to ramble about myself for ages, but can't seem to find anything else "quirky" about me. Does this mean that I am boring or damn near perfect? LOL!! I am drawing a total blank!! I'll have to think about #6 and let you know later. Right now, I have to get ready to go to my monthly PTO meeting.

Slate....out.

We're Home.....

We left for the cottage on Thursday and got home around noon today. I was able to get Gertie to Aldi's in time for her to get her damn plants....lol. It was a bit chilly and rainy the first day, then gradually got a little warmer as the days passed. No complaints here though! It was perfect camping weather for us! My whole family was there this weekend, so that was nice. Lots of good food too! Gram made pot roast one night, and lasagna another night...then we had a big cookout on Sunday. The kids had a blast down there....especially Lukas. He was on the go all weekend. I am sure he'll be more than ready for bed tonight....woo hoo!! It's so nice to see my kids enjoy the cottage as much as I did as a kid. I think Grandma enjoys seeing that too. I've been dealing with a stomach ache since about 2 a.m this morning. Not sure what the hell that is all about! I am hungry though....and Mike has some yummy Ohama Steaks on the grill right now. I am making some mushrooms & onions and eating up the pasta salad that I made for yesterday. I have a feeling that I am going to regret eating dinner given the way that my stomach aches right now.....but there's no way I am letting those steaks go to waste....lol. Looks like my week is a pretty calm one this week....not too much going on. We brought the camper home with us rather than leave it down to the cottage so that we can get it cleaned up and ready to go to Pocono (we're going to a NASCAR race June 5-9). Well....I smell my dinner! Gotta run!!

My First Post

Well, welcome to my Blog! I got the "bug" from Sarah. As you all know, I love to talk....and I like to talk about me and my crazy life more than anything! There certainly is never a dull moment around here. My kids drive me crazy and keep me busy as hell.....my husband is a bonified nut case (lol)....the dog and cat fight, well....like cats and dogs.....and me....I've always got some kind of dillema!! What better way to vent about things than through a blog. Plus, it's a good way for my friends out-of-state to keep up with what's going on here.

It's been a crazy week around here. Nothing out of the ordindary, really. Jake is in his first year of modified baseball and it seems I'm either running around to a game somewhere or picking him up from a game. I've been trying not to go to any away games, as they've been too far to drive at almost $4.00 a gallon! But I do make it a point to go to the home games, and we had one last night. It was FREEZING cold. You know a dedicated mom when you see her because she's the one at the games bundled up, covered up in a comforter!!

I also worked a half day at the school on Tuesday. I started out my morning with a high school homeroom/study hall. That was pretty easy. I then went to the kindergarten class for 2 hours and helped out there, then down to lunch duty for about 45 minutes. A much easier day than the one that I had last week. Last week I worked a full day in the library. Most of our Seniors take Distance Learning classes via the computer. Well, those classes are winding down, and the Seniors are finding themselves with a whole lot of time on their hands. They should be in Senior Lounge, which is basically just a classroom for them to hang out in with no supervision, if you can believe that. For some strange reason, they would rather hang out in the library and be major pains in the ass....therefore getting into trouble. We had a couple of incidents that day, one in which I thought I was going to have to physically remove one of the little assholes. I asked him to leave the library a number of times, and he repeatedly told me that he wasn't going to leave. So, instead of throttling him like I wanted to....I went and got the Principal. Uggggggh. I can not believe the disrespect these teenagers have for adults. I swear to God....if I ever hear of my kids treating an adult like that, I will beat their asses bloody!!

Today I volunteered in Lukas's class. One of their 3 teachers took another position within the Pre-K and is only there 2 days a week, so they've asked for parent volunteers for M, W & F. Today was my tour of duty. It really wasn't bad. There are a couple of kids in there, one in particular, who could benefit from a good ass whoopin'....but for the most part they are really cute. It was a lonnnnnnnng 3 1/2 hours though, and I was ready for a nap when I got home. Sadly though, that didn't happen.

We're taking the camper to the cottage for the long weekend. The kid's have no school Friday or Monday. Mike took the camper with him to work tonight and will take it to the cottage in the morning, set it up, sleep, and leave for work from there tomorrow night. I came home from the school today and had to start packing the camper. I spent the majority of the day doing laundry. I have to be ready to go when Lukas gets out of schoo at 11:30 because my Dear Ol' Grandma Gert has plans for me. See, she's getting ready to do what I call the "Memorial Day Cemetary Run" this weekend. She goes to all of the cemetaries where are loved ones are, and leaves flowers. Well, she used to make up pots with flowers, but has found that it's easier and cheaper to buy them pre-made when she can. She saw where Aldi's has a one-day sale tomorrow on planters with little American flags in them!! Wooo hooo!! Well, she's gotta get right out there....which means me having to make a trip to Watertown. At $4.00 a gallon, she's going to have to wait 'till I'm on my way through Watertown on my way to the cottage....so I have to leave for the cottage early so she doesn't miss out. Uggggggh. I guess I shouldn't bitch considering I don't have to take her on the big "run".....my Uncle Scott has that honor. It used to be My job!!

Jake is going to NYC for a NY Yankees game on Friday night. He's going with my friend Rose and her husband, Jeff. Their son, Logan, and Jake are friends. Jake is an avid Met's fan....but is still really excited! I think he's most excited that he's getting to visit Yankee stadium before it gets torn down. He's been to Shea Stadium, and they're tearing that down after this season too! I had to go buy him a Yankee's hat and t-shirt for the occasion. They're leaving Friday morning and will be home early Saturday afternoon. Then he'll be joining us at the cottage.

Well, guess that's it for now! Be sure to leave comments when you read my blog so that I know that you were here!! Have a great weekend!!
